VerifiedX has launched Mainnet 9.0.0, rolling out self-custodial recovery Vaults that let vBTC holders configure a delay period before transfers finalize—and recall them if compromised or mistaken.
During the configured delay, users can reverse transfers and redirect assets back to a self-custodial address. The mechanism lives on-chain, enforced directly by VerifiedX consensus, cutting out reliance on centralized custodians or multisig intermediaries.
The upgrade also embeds Bitcoin light-client verification into VerifiedX validator software. Validators can now independently verify Bitcoin block headers, proof of work, and chain progression without running full Bitcoin nodes. Six-confirmation burial depth on Bitcoin settlements confirms transaction finality on vBTC.
This native verification ties vBTC to the actual Bitcoin blockchain cryptographically—no external bridge operator or oracle needed. The VerifiedX network itself attests to Bitcoin's state.
For self-custody users, the recovery Vault mechanism directly solves irreversibility. A hack or fat-finger transaction locks assets into a recovery window—time to pull it back before it settles. This is on-chain enforcement, not off-chain arbitration or multisig consensus theater.
The light-client verification strengthens vBTC's integrity. Validators confirm Bitcoin transactions independently, tightening the linkage between the wrapped asset and the underlying settlement layer.
