History

The chart draws from the second daily reading. History accrues from Sep 26, 2026.

Methodology

The index is the equal-weighted average of five components, each scaled from 0 to 100 and read the same way: higher means retail money is taking more risk.

  1. Crypto breadth. The share of the crypto sectors we track that are up on the day.
  2. Crypto momentum. The average 24-hour move across those sectors, with −8% scoring 0 and +8% scoring 100.
  3. Retail sentiment. The mention-weighted sentiment of the crypto conversation our social engines track, from −40 (0) to +40 (100).
  4. Risk-curve position. The share of that conversation about assets other than Bitcoin, Ether, and stablecoins. Twenty percent scores 0; eighty percent scores 100.
  5. Stock risk appetite. A basket of ten retail favorites (TSLA, NVDA, PLTR, COIN, MSTR, HOOD, GME, SOFI, AMD, ARKK) against the S&P 500: half the score is the basket’s session return minus the index’s (±4 points), half is the basket’s volume against its three-month average (0.6× to 1.6×).

Frequently asked

What is the Gokhshtein Retail Money Index?
A daily reading from 0 to 100 of how hard retail money is chasing risk across crypto and stocks. Low readings mean retail is hiding; high readings mean it is all in. It is published every trading day by Gokhshtein Media.
How is it calculated?
Five equally weighted components, each scaled 0–100: crypto sector breadth, crypto sector momentum, mention-weighted retail sentiment, how much of tracked conversation sits outside Bitcoin, Ether, and stablecoins, and a retail-favorites stock basket (TSLA, NVDA, PLTR, COIN, MSTR, HOOD, GME, SOFI, AMD, ARKK) measured against the S&P 500 on price and volume. The inputs are Gokhshtein Media’s own GMARKETS rotation and social data plus public quotes. No language model is involved.
Is it investment advice?
No. It measures behavior; it does not recommend any action, asset, or product. Extreme readings describe crowd positioning, not what will happen next.
How often does it update, and can I use it?
Once a day after the US close, about 5:30 PM Eastern. Anyone may cite the number with attribution to the Gokhshtein Retail Money Index and a link to this page, and may embed the free widget.
