Apple is scheduled to report earnings Monday, marking new CEO John Ternus' first earnings announcement since assuming the role earlier this year.

The report will test Ternus' ability to manage two structural headwinds: sustained memory chip price increases and softening consumer electronics demand. Both directly erode profitability if not offset by operational efficiency or pricing power.

Memory chip costs have risen for multiple consecutive quarters, increasing the bill of materials across iPhones, iPads and Mac computers. Without corresponding price increases or cost cuts elsewhere, this pressure compresses gross margins—Apple's primary profitability metric and a closely watched indicator of management execution.

Consumer discretionary spending has weakened, reducing demand for high-priced electronics. Ternus must demonstrate whether Apple can maintain unit sales and average selling prices in this environment through product positioning and marketing effectiveness.

Apple shares closed at $344.63, down 1.2 percent. The Nasdaq Composite fell 2.9 percent.
