No. 9 LSU's women's basketball team set a Division I record Thursday night, routing Texas Southern 131-22. The 109-point margin stands as the largest in women's Division I history against another Division I opponent.

The previous record was held by Baylor, which defeated Winthrop 140-32 on Dec. 15, 2016. Kim Mulkey coached that Baylor team and now leads LSU.

LSU mounted a 50-0 scoring run spanning the second and third quarters. Within that stretch, the Lady Tigers recorded a 40-0 second quarter, the second-largest shutout quarter since Division I adopted the quarter system in the 2015-16 season. Texas Southern produced a 44-0 quarter in 2024.

Seven LSU players scored in double figures. Freshman Anna Minaeva led with 21 points. Mikaylah Williams added 20, and Jada Williams, a transfer from Iowa State, contributed 18. Williams was scoreless in the first quarter but connected on six of seven shots, including three 3-pointers, in eight minutes during the second quarter.

ZaKiyah Johnson scored 17 points. Grace Knox and MiLaysia Fulwiley each had 15, with both adding six points in the second quarter. Lola Lampley rounded out the double-digit scorers with 10 points.

Texas Southern, now 0-2, shot 13 percent from the field, making eight of 55 attempts. Jayla Cornelius led the Tigers with six points. LSU forced 38 turnovers and outscored Texas Southern 55-0 in points off turnovers.

LSU honored former All-American Angel Reese, who helped the Lady Tigers win their first national championship in 2022. Reese earned WNBA Defensive Player of the Year honors this season and led the Atlanta Dream to the championship series.
