Stripe has launched stablecoin payout capabilities for U.S. businesses, allowing firms to send OUSD or USDC directly to crypto wallets across more than 160 international markets. Transfers complete in minutes—a material upgrade over traditional bank rails that can take days.
The integration supports two distinct stablecoins. USDC provides a liquid dollar-pegged settlement layer for businesses. OUSD, Origin Protocol's yield-bearing stablecoin, lets recipients earn passive yield on payouts directly in their wallets. This dual offering gives businesses flexibility while incentivizing adoption among crypto-native users.
The move creates a new on-chain liquidity channel. Businesses now have a direct rail for paying global contractors and vendors, bypassing correspondent banking entirely. This removes intermediary costs and settlement delays, strengthening the stablecoin ecosystem that underpins DeFi activity. Stripe's integration pushes stablecoins beyond speculative trading into operational infrastructure—a critical shift for mainstream adoption.
