Walmart Inc. is raising at least $6 billion through bond sales in U.S. and Canadian dollars to fund capital expenditure.

The dual-currency issuance allows the retailer to access separate investor pools and optimize borrowing costs across markets. By tapping both the U.S. and Canadian debt markets, Walmart reduces refinancing risk and avoids over-reliance on a single funding source.

The capital supports what the company characterized as a "spending spree" on supply chain upgrades, technology integration and store modernization. Specific project details were not disclosed, but such initiatives typically include automation in distribution centers, e-commerce infrastructure development and store modernization.

Large-scale bond issuances allow Walmart to secure long-term capital without depleting existing cash reserves, preserving financial flexibility for operational needs and unexpected opportunities.
