JPMorgan Chase is now allowing institutional clients to send U.S. dollar deposits directly on the Ethereum blockchain using JPM Coin, its permissioned stablecoin pegged 1:1 to the dollar.

The move marks a major shift: JPM Coin previously operated only on Quorum, JPMorgan's private version of Ethereum, since its 2020 launch. The extension to public Ethereum mainnet opens institutional dollar transactions to the broader blockchain ecosystem—a critical infrastructure play for on-chain settlement at scale.

Clients can now execute tokenized dollar transfers directly on Ethereum without leaving the public network. This bypasses the friction of moving between JPMorgan's closed rails and external blockchains, enabling faster interoperability for institutions moving capital into tokenized assets and DeFi protocols.

The timing matters. As institutions accumulate on-chain exposure, dollar stablecoin liquidity on public networks becomes the plumbing that ties traditional finance to crypto. JPMorgan's move to Ethereum mainnet signals the bank is no longer treating institutional blockchain settlement as a future possibility—it is building for the present.

For holders and traders: this is infrastructure. When a $5 trillion bank opens institutional-grade dollar rails on Ethereum mainnet, it reduces counterparty friction and opens the door for larger capital flows into on-chain assets. Watch for institutional adoption metrics on JPM Coin Ethereum transactions in the coming months—this is the signal that will matter.
