Cardano's native token, ADA, has rallied 42 percent since Sept. 16, climbing from roughly $0.19 to $0.27 as large holders and retail participants re-engaged with the network.
On-chain data from Santiment showed ADA transactions exceeding $100,000 hit 413 in one day—the highest count since June 4. The surge reflects genuine whale accumulation, not algorithmic noise.
The price move coincided with a spike in ADA's social dominance to 1.16 percent, its highest reading this year. The RealFi launch on Cardano's mainnet and pending Fireblocks integration fueled the attention spike.
Derivatives data told the real story. Open interest in ADA futures climbed 25 percent to $304 million between Oct. 3 and Oct. 5—the highest daily close since April. Measured in coin terms, open interest still rose 13 percent, proving new leverage entered the market rather than shorts simply covering.
Funding rates flipped from deeply negative on Oct. 2 to positive shortly after, another sign of fresh long positioning. Short covering played a role, but Santiment's analysis identified new leveraged positions as the primary driver.
ADA traded at $0.2644 when analyst Giannis Andreou published his technical view. The token was retesting the $0.20-$0.28 range, a historical support zone from prior cycles.
Andreou flagged a key concern: ADA's weekly structure still shows lower highs, meaning a full trend reversal has not yet confirmed. The $0.32-$0.40 zone is critical. If ADA reclaims and holds that range, a broader recovery becomes credible.
