Two whale wallets executed a substantial on-chain transaction on Sept. 29, swapping 50.95 Wrapped Bitcoin (WBTC) valued at $4.26 million for 25,502 Aave (AAVE) tokens, according to on-chain data.
The exchange occurred as AAVE rallied 13 percent to $171.92, with 24-hour trading volume reaching $612.1 million. The direct swap bypassed centralized exchanges, executing entirely on-chain through decentralized liquidity pools.
Aave operates as a decentralized lending protocol where AAVE holders vote on governance proposals affecting interest rates, collateral factors and risk management. Accumulation of AAVE tokens grants holders voting power proportional to their stake.
The transaction reflects capital rotation within DeFi, with large holders reallocating from Bitcoin-backed assets into a core protocol token. Aave maintains substantial total value locked across multiple chains and remains positioned as a blue-chip lending platform.
Increased whale activity on the Aave network has accompanied the price movement, signaling renewed engagement from large participants whose positions often precede significant price swings.
