NEW YORK — The New York Giants are releasing wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. after three weeks back with the team, NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported, ahead of Week 4 of the 2026 NFL season.
Beckham recorded no statistics during his second stint with the Giants. He played 19 snaps across three games, making no receptions. In the Week 3 win against the Tennessee Titans, Beckham was on the field for six snaps.
The Giants hold a 2-1 record, tied atop the NFC East with the Philadelphia Eagles. Despite their start, the team faces a challenging season with Jaxson Dart out for the year, dimming their playoff prospects.
The decision to release Beckham is logical for the Giants. He was not providing value on the field, and the roster spot can be used more effectively. This allows the team to focus on other players like Malik Nabers, Cam Skattebo, and their rookie class.
This roster transaction follows the Giants' recent trade for J.J. McCarthy. Braxton Berrios is the likely candidate to take Beckham's NFL roster spot, and the Giants are not expected to release another wide receiver to bring Beckham back.
Beckham signed a one-year contract with the Giants in June 2026. The deal was worth $1.3 million and carried a minimum salary benefit cap hit of $1.075 million. He had previously been released by Miami in December 2024.
