Attorney Edward Paltzik, representing Michael Desronvil, the sole juror who blocked conviction in the Lindsay Clancy murder trial, pushed back hard against claims his client refused to follow the judge's instructions on reasonable doubt.
"Zero doubt," Paltzik told Fox News host Kayleigh McEnany, describing Desronvil's conviction. He cited "a mountain of evidence" supporting Desronvil's position.
The move puts Paltzik directly at odds with the jury foreperson, who sent a note to Judge William Sullivan accusing Desronvil of disregarding the law on reasonable doubt during seven days of deliberation.
Desronvil stood alone against 11 other jurors who were prepared to find Clancy not criminally responsible for the deaths of her three children—5-year-old Cora, 3-year-old Dawson, and 8-month-old Callan—at the family's Duxbury, Massachusetts, home in January 2023.
Clancy's defense argued postpartum psychosis rendered her not criminally responsible. Prosecutors countered that she understood her actions and planned the killings.
Desronvil believed physical evidence and witness testimony proved Clancy knew what she was doing, according to Paltzik. That disagreement prompted Judge Sullivan to declare a mistrial on Sept. 4.
Prosecutors have not said whether they will retry Clancy. She is scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 29.
Clancy's attorney, Kevin Reddington, did not respond to requests for comment.
