XRPL's BatchV1_1 upgrade activation moves to Oct. 9 around 14:46 UTC—a 10-day slip from the original Sept. 29 target after validator support briefly collapsed below the 80 percent threshold required for activation.

The feature allows users to bundle up to eight transactions into a single atomic operation. Its all-or-nothing execution ensures that a buyer can pay for a tokenized asset and receive it in one step, eliminating counterparty risk for either side.

This is the second attempt. Developers scrapped the original BatchV1_1 after uncovering a critical signature-checking flaw pre-activation. The fixed version shipped in August with ledger core software version 3.3.0.

XRPL upgrades require support from more than 80 percent of trusted validators for two consecutive weeks. Any dip below that threshold resets the countdown clock entirely—even if votes recover quickly.

BatchV1_1 secured backing from 30 of 35 trusted validators on Sept. 25, according to the XRPL amendment dashboard. That regained support triggered a fresh two-week countdown, with Oct. 9 now the earliest possible activation date assuming support holds.

RippleX head of engineering Ayo Akinyele said projects are already building with Batch functionality in mind. "Activation would allow that work to move closer to production," Akinyele said.

A parallel upgrade, PermissionDelegationV1_1, also faced delays. This feature lets account owners delegate specific operational tasks to other accounts without sharing the signing keys that control funds. Token issuers, for example, could assign payment processing and compliance duties to separate operational accounts while maintaining granular control.

PermissionDelegationV1_1 lost qualifying support on Sept. 23, regained it on Sept. 24, and now targets Oct. 8 around 21:25 UTC for activation.
