The New York Liberty defeated the Toronto Tempo 106-69 on Sunday, extending their winning streak to three games and keeping themselves in the playoff picture as the regular season nears its end.
Breanna Stewart led New York with 27 points, moving into eighth place on the WNBA's all-time scoring list with 6,833 career points. She surpassed Cappie Pondexter's previous mark of 6,811 points. Her next target is Candice Dupree, who holds 6,895 career points.
The achievement comes two days after Stewart passed Sue Bird for ninth place, scoring 24 points in a 93-81 road victory over the Minnesota Lynx on Friday.
Stewart played 22 minutes Sunday, shooting 10 of 14 from the field and making all seven free-throw attempts. The nine-year veteran scored 13 points by halftime as New York built a 45-37 lead. She added 14 points in the third quarter, when the Liberty outscored Toronto by 11.
New York led 26-19 after one quarter. Rebecca Allen added 14 points off the bench, hitting four of the team's 16 three-pointers.
The Liberty improved to 26-16 and have two regular-season games remaining, both at home: Monday against Atlanta and again Wednesday.
For the Tempo, a first-year franchise, Laura Juskaite scored a career-high 28 points and Kiki Rice added 19. Toronto finished 11-31 after losing six consecutive games and 18 of its last 19 contests.
