Anjney Midha, an early Anthropic investor and former general partner at Andreessen Horowitz, has raised $1.3 billion for Amp, a venture fund that bundles access to AI computing power with capital for startups and academic researchers.
The fund's model departs from traditional venture capital by solving a structural constraint facing AI founders: the enormous upfront cost of compute. Midha, 34, has been critical of established firms for underestimating the scope of the AI revolution and missing early bets on frontier companies.
Midha's track record includes leading rounds in Anthropic, Mistral, Black Forest Labs, and Periodic Labs. He retains his board seat at a16z while pursuing Amp independently. He remains an active buyer of Anthropic stock and expects public markets to increasingly embrace frontier AI companies, shifting funding dynamics for these capital-intensive ventures.
Midha also views Stripe's acquisition of OpenRouter as a significant bet on infrastructure for agentic AI systems—a signal of where foundational value is accruing in the stack.
