Generac Holdings (GNRC) shares jumped 36.8 percent to $237.00 on Sept. 16 after disclosing an agreement granting Amazon.com Inc (AMZN) the right to purchase equity in the company—a strategic validation of Generac's pivot toward data center power infrastructure.

The deal represents a critical juncture for Generac's transformation from residential generator manufacturer to enterprise power solutions provider. The company's Commercial & Industrial segment now drives growth, with data center customers emerging as the primary revenue engine.

Generac management targets mid-teens revenue growth and margin expansion, projecting $6.4 billion in revenue by 2028. That outlook depends entirely on sustained hyperscaler demand for backup power and energy solutions as AI workloads proliferate.

CEO Aaron Jagdfeld referenced a power supply agreement with an unnamed hyperscaler in June. The Amazon deal confirms that major cloud providers are committing capital to secure reliable power infrastructure—exactly what sell-side analysts have flagged as a structural tailwind for Generac.

Generac trades at a P/E of 40.35, pricing in growth but leaving room for upside if execution on the $6.4 billion revenue target accelerates. Year-to-date, the stock is up 55.6 percent. Watch for quarterly guidance revisions and any disclosure of Amazon's initial equity purchase size—that number will signal the magnitude of the company's confidence in Generac's data center roadmap.
