WASHINGTON — U.S. Senate Republicans released a new Clarity Act draft today with White House-approved ethics language that addresses market integrity, consumer protection, and conflicts of interest in the digital asset space. The bill is set for a Senate vote Tuesday.
The move signals a shift away from the current enforcement-by-litigation approach toward direct federal definitions of digital asset classifications. This regulatory certainty is what institutional players—traditional asset managers, hedge funds, and pension funds—have demanded before deploying significant capital into crypto.
The bill would establish a foundational framework distinguishing digital asset securities from commodities, giving U.S. exchanges, custodians, and DeFi protocols clear legal parameters to operate and innovate within. The framework would also influence token standards, stablecoin growth, and real-world asset tokenization.
Bitcoin is trading at $77,311 and Ethereum at $2,502. The Crypto Fear & Greed Index sits at 57, signaling greed-level optimism. Passage would likely unlock substantial institutional inflows by reducing regulatory risk and making crypto a viable asset class for diversified portfolios.
If the Senate passes the bill Tuesday, it advances to the House for further debate and amendments before becoming law.
