GAZA CITY—Doctors Without Borders (MSF) said Monday that one of its employees was injured in an Israeli attack on an aid convoy bus in Gaza City the previous night. The vehicle, carrying ten staff members, sustained serious damage despite displaying a large MSF sticker on its roof.
MSF said Israeli forces targeted another vehicle positioned approximately two meters from the convoy. The organization condemned the strike, saying Israeli forces "have shown a flagrant disregard for the safety of humanitarian and medical personnel."
The incident is the latest to affect MSF operations in Gaza. The group reported last month that its occupational therapist, Omar Hayek, was killed on a street in Gaza where medical teams were waiting for transport to an MSF field hospital in Deir al-Balah. At least four other people were seriously injured in that attack. All staff present were wearing MSF vests identifying them as medical workers.
MSF called for protection of clearly identified medical and humanitarian vehicles from attack. "No place is safe" within the Palestinian enclave, the organization said.
The Gaza Health Ministry reported Monday that Israeli operations have killed 1,372 Palestinians and injured 4,659 since a ceasefire took effect. The ministry recorded two deaths and 25 injuries in the previous 24 hours.
