Tether's USDT0 launched on the Stellar network Sept. 2, 2026, bringing omnichain stablecoin infrastructure to a blockchain designed for real-world payments and cross-border finance.

USDTO uses LayerZero's Omnichain Fungible Token (OFT) standard, maintaining a single unified supply backed 1:1 by USDT across all connected blockchains. Users on Stellar gain access to a global liquidity pool shared across LayerZero-connected networks, eliminating the need for isolated pools, wrapped tokens or third-party bridges.

The $180 billion in USDT liquidity now available on Stellar enables institutions and individuals to move value on-chain without fragmented capital. DeFi protocols can use USDT0 as collateral, for borrowing, trading and yield deployment.

SushiSwap is the first DEX to integrate USDT0 on Stellar, with additional DeFi partnerships expected.

Stellar's infrastructure offers sub-cent transaction fees and five-second finality, with on/off-ramp coverage across more than 170 countries. The network has focused on payments infrastructure in Latin America, Africa and Asia-Pacific.

For exchanges, fintechs and payment service providers already on Stellar, USDT0 integration requires minimal operational changes. The deployment removes swap costs and settlement friction for partners whose counterparties use USDT, streamlining treasury management and payment flows.
