Coinbase is pursuing a total addressable market expansion beyond crypto trading, with President and COO Emilie Choi targeting the $50 trillion global financial system.

"I think that the thing that we are going after is disrupting the entire financial system, and that is a very big market opportunity," Choi said, pushing back against the perception that Coinbase focuses only on crypto.

The company's "everything exchange" strategy centers on stablecoin payments targeting the $800 billion annual remittances market, prediction markets launched six months ago with an annualized run rate exceeding $100 million, and crypto-backed mortgages.

Prediction markets have emerged as a key growth lever. The on-chain product is gaining traction in a nascent segment, with Coinbase's version already demonstrating measurable volume.

Stablecoin payments address a specific use case: moving capital across borders. The remittance corridor represents an immediate on-chain capital flow opportunity where stablecoins can displace traditional infrastructure.

Coinbase has also begun integrating digital assets into lending products, signaling a push into asset-backed finance rather than pure trading venue infrastructure.

BofA Securities analysts noted increased "product velocity" at Coinbase despite the stock declining 40 percent from July highs, suggesting the company is maintaining strategic momentum on expansion even during market volatility.
