NEW YORK Knicks guard Landry Shamet was photographing a U.S. Open women's quarterfinal match on Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2026, working in the photo pit at Arthur Ashe Stadium during the match between Jessica Pegula and Emma Navarro.
This marks the third consecutive year Shamet has brought his photography to the Grand Slam event at Flushing Meadows. He began contributing during the first week of the tournament in 2024 and has worked as an unpaid photographer for the USTA.
USTA photographer Jen Pottheiser praised his work last year. "His action photos are really tremendous," Pottheiser said. "He really is a student of photography here. He's asking amazing questions and he's frankly a great teammate."
Shamet began pursuing photography five years ago and said he has "fallen in love with the hobby." He carries a camera when traveling for NBA games and takes pictures "just as a hobby, walking around, shooting stuff that I like to maybe print out and put on the wall in my house."
"I think since I picked the camera up I don't really foresee a day where I put it down," Shamet said. He has posted some of his U.S. Open images on Instagram, specifying he used a Sony a7R V camera for those shots.
Shamet's U.S. Open appearance follows the Knicks' NBA championship in 2026, ending a 53-year title drought for the franchise. He signed a four-year contract worth $24 million with the Knicks in late June. During the regular season, he averaged 9.3 points per game and 6.0 points per game in the playoffs.
