KYIV — Russian missile and drone attacks killed at least two people and injured 10 others in Kyiv, Ukrainian officials said. The strikes damaged at least 14 high-rise buildings, a dormitory, a school, a clinic and warehouses across the city.
President Volodymyr Zelensky said Russia planned the attack to "cause as much harm to life as possible." He described it as a "complex attack" involving ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, anti-ship missiles and jet-powered drones known as shaheds.
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported that falling debris sparked fires at a five-story apartment building and a three-story residential block in one district.
The strikes occurred one day after US peace envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner concluded talks with Zelensky and left Kyiv.
Ukrainian forces also conducted strikes on the Russian-occupied Crimean peninsula. Sergei Aksyonov, the Moscow-appointed regional governor, reported that the attacks killed two people and wounded one. Russia annexed Crimea in 2014.
