Veteran defense attorney Kevin Reddington confirmed Friday he will represent Kelsie Cote, a Massachusetts woman accused of murdering her 74-year-old grandmother, Doris Cote, and attempting to destroy evidence. Police determined there was probable cause that Cote killed her grandmother on the evening of Oct. 31, 2022.
Reddington announced the representation at a press conference, adding Cote to a roster that already includes Lindsay Clancy, who is also charged with murder and whose case has drawn significant attention across the state. "Between Lindsay and Kelsie, I'll get it done," Reddington said.
Reddington has practiced criminal defense for 51 years. He was a partner at Kelly & Reddington in Brockton from 1975 to 1991, then opened his own practice. His firm handles murder, drug offenses, weapons charges, DUI, domestic violence and assault cases.
In the Clancy case, Reddington said a majority of jurors were voting to acquit his client, though one male juror dissented. The case is scheduled to return to court Sept. 29 for a reconsideration hearing to address the split decision.
