PARIS, KENTUCKY
Former Kentucky Gov. Matt Bevin was arrested Thursday by the Bourbon County Sheriff's Office on an active bench warrant issued in Jefferson County for contempt of court.
Bevin was taken into custody on the set of a Christmas movie, "The Greatest Christmas Gift of All," filming at a horse farm estate. Jessica Mohr, owner of the Houstondale estate, confirmed Bevin was working as a featured extra when sheriff's deputies arrived.
Sheriff Tony Asbury said his office received a tip that Bevin was on the film set and verified the information before making the arrest. Mohr indicated law enforcement likely located Bevin after he posted a picture of himself with the lead actor on social media. Bevin subsequently deleted the photograph.
Bevin was cooperative during the arrest, according to Asbury. He was lodged into the Bourbon-Nicholas County Region Detention Center before being booked into the Louisville Metro Detention Center later that evening.
Bevin was charged with resistance to a court order stemming from his failure to provide financial documents in his divorce and child support proceedings. Jefferson Family Court Judge Angela Johnson had issued two arrest warrants for Bevin over the summer.
The first warrant was for his failure to appear in person for a May court hearing, which Bevin attributed to a "very large boulder" striking his vacation home in Maine. That warrant was rescinded after Bevin paid a fine.
Judge Johnson issued a second bench warrant in June after Bevin still had not turned over the mandated financial disclosures. On June 6, Johnson sentenced Bevin to 60 days in jail and a $500 fine for contempt. Unlike the first warrant, this one could not be resolved by paying a fine.
Bevin failed to appear in person for another court hearing on July 28 in Louisville. While Bevin had participated in previous hearings via Zoom, an attempt to join the July 28 call was dropped after the individual failed to identify themselves.
Bevin's ex-wife, Glenna Bevin, and their estranged son, Jonah Bevin, testified in person at the July 28 hearing. Jonah Bevin is seeking child support as part of the case.
