Metaplex, the protocol powering asset creation on Solana, launched a new self-service application on Feb. 24, enabling full-stack token launches without coding requirements. The platform directly addresses historical friction in on-chain capital formation, where creators previously chose between building custom infrastructure, applying to exclusive launchpads, or launching on bonding curves that typically lacked control mechanisms and favored insiders.
Metaplex has powered over 99 percent of all tokens and NFTs on Solana since 2021. Yet accessing its infrastructure required deep technical expertise. The new app removes that barrier, allowing Web2 companies, institutions, and AI agents to execute professional Token Generation Events through a permissionless interface.
"The next generation of breakout technology businesses and platforms will launch onchain, using tokens for capital formation and DeFi to deliver their products at scale," said Stephen Hess, founder of Metaplex and director at the Metaplex Foundation. "By moving away from the application-only model of traditional launchpads and removing the technical barriers to entry, we are providing every project, from Web2 institutions to AI agents, the ability to formulate capital onchain."
The application standardizes launch mechanics with embedded liquidity and anti-bot protections, reducing friction for businesses, platforms, and asset classes seeking tokenized capital formation. A complementary Discovery and Trading Hub serves as a central dashboard for discovering launches, engaging in active pools, and trading tokens originated through Metaplex.
To date, Metaplex has facilitated the creation of over 22 million fungible tokens and nearly 1 billion total digital assets. The platform's expanded capabilities align with its vision to develop a capital market for tokenized real-world assets, enhancing their tradability and global accessibility.
