Cognition AI is currently generating approximately $900 million in annualized revenue, more than tripling its run rate since early 2026. The company projects revenue will exceed $1.5 billion by year-end, according to company executives.
The San Francisco-based AI lab reached a $26 billion valuation in 2026. Revenue stood at $492 million by May 2026, compared with $80 million for the full year 2025.
Cognition's flagship product, Devin, is an AI coding agent aimed at enterprises. Customers include Goldman Sachs, Mercedes-Benz and the U.S. government. The company sells access to these agents as collaborative AI teammates embedded in software development workflows.
The economics are striking: 90 percent of Cognition's own production code is written by Devin, an internal validation of the product's scalability and cost structure that translates directly to customer value.
Cognition raised $1.8 billion across five funding rounds, with $1 billion secured in 2026 at a $25 billion pre-money valuation. Headcount jumped to approximately 360 people in 2026 from 49 in 2025—capital deployed aggressively into product development and sales.
At $26 billion against projected $1.5 billion 2026 revenue, the company trades at 17.3 times forward sales. That multiple reflects a bet that Devin has built a durable moat in agentic coding—a category with substantial unit economics if retention holds and land-and-expand works at enterprise scale.
