TEHRAN — Iran's Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmail Baghaei Hamaneh said Tehran should increase its reliance on non-governmental organizations to document actions he described as crimes committed by the United States and Israel, with the material intended for use in domestic and international courts.

Baghaei, appointed to his current role on Oct. 2, 2024, by Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, succeeded Nasser Kanaani as spokesperson. He has served as a senior assistant to the Iranian foreign minister and previously worked as a legal officer and adviser on international legal affairs since 2001.

From 2018 to 2022, he served as Iran's Permanent Representative to the UN Office in Geneva.
