Nvidia is actively connecting GPU customers with Nordic data center operators to accelerate AI infrastructure deployment, two sources familiar with the matter said. The initiative extends beyond Europe, with Nvidia also facilitating introductions between AI infrastructure builders and GPU owners in the U.S. and Asia.

Nvidia Chief Financial Officer Colette Kress confirmed the company's matchmaking role in June, saying: "How can we help them obtain land, power, shell? How do we help them in terms of standing up the compute as fast as possible for what they need to do?"

The Nordic region has become a prime location for AI data centers due to abundant cheap power, available land and a cooler climate that reduces cooling costs for high-performance chips. Gigawatts of capacity are slated for construction in the coming years, with multi-hundred-megawatt facilities announced recently in Finland and Norway.

Pure DC announced in July a 1.5 billion euro ($1.74 billion) investment in a 110 MW campus in Finland with potential to scale to 550 MW. Arcem plans a site with up to 500 MW of capacity in the region. In March, Nebius unveiled plans for what it called one of Europe's largest AI factories in Finland. Hyperscalers like Microsoft have inked deals for additional Nordic computing capacity in 2026.

One source said Nvidia reached out to a data center company to identify potential offtakers—customers committed to buying or leasing computing capacity. Nvidia often did not disclose the names of the companies it was representing in these outreach efforts.

The matchmaking strategy extends Nvidia's influence across the AI supply chain beyond chip sales alone. Nvidia maintains an effective monopoly over high-performance AI chips and is using that leverage to cement relationships throughout the infrastructure stack—from land acquisition to power agreements to end-customer commitments. The company typically sells chips to original equipment manufacturers that integrate them into servers, but it maintains direct relationships with end buyers of these systems.

This approach ensures that companies with capital and GPU demand can secure necessary data center space, while Nvidia gains visibility and influence over which facilities get built and who operates them.
