Tokenized gold, an asset class exceeding $4.9 billion on-chain, has largely sat idle in wallets. Enhanced is launching a Gold Volatility Income Vault designed to generate yield from PAXG holdings by running a covered call options strategy against deposited collateral.

Users deposit PAXG into the vault, which sells out-of-the-money call options against the gold to market makers on 14-day cycles. That process generates upfront premium income for depositors. The vault charges a 0.019 percent fee.

Covered call strategies are standard in traditional finance, where gold option-income products manage hundreds of millions of dollars—but those products carry high expense ratios and KYC requirements. GLDI, a comparable gold covered call ETF, charges a 0.65 percent expense ratio. Enhanced targets the same yield mechanic with on-chain accessibility and transparent execution.

The payoff structure is straightforward: if gold stays below the strike at expiry, depositors keep their PAXG plus the earned premium. If gold closes above the strike, depositors retain the premium but forfeit gains beyond that level.

Enhanced's focus on gold is deliberate. Tokenized gold is the largest on-chain commodity by market cap, and gold reached an all-time high in April 2026 as demand rose during a period of elevated geopolitical and macroeconomic volatility—conditions that support higher options premiums.

This vault is the first of Enhanced's "Thesis Vaults," a product line designed to let users express defined outcomes and payoffs using options. The protocol plans to expand the model to additional binary instruments, according to its documentation.

The broader RWA ecosystem has seen over $32 billion of assets flow on-chain, concentrated in low-risk instruments like tokenized T-bills. Early RWA protocols—MakerDAO's RWA Vaults and Centrifuge's tokenized receivables—focused on bridging crypto capital with off-chain credit. Protocols like Centrifuge and Maple Finance have since facilitated on-chain lending against tokenized private credit.

Enhanced's vault moves further along that spectrum, adding programmable yield strategies on top of tokenized ownership rather than treating the underlying asset as static collateral.
