Boeing July Deliveries Fall 17 Percent, Trailing Airbus by 14 Jets

Boeing's jet deliveries fell 17 percent in July, dropping to 53 aircraft from 64 in June.

The July total was five jets ahead of the same month a year earlier. Boeing still trailed Airbus, which delivered 67 planes in July, widening the gap between the two manufacturers.

July deliveries included 39 737 MAX jets, 10 787s, one 777 freighter and three 767s.

Through July, Boeing has delivered 367 jets this year, including 279 737 MAX aircraft and 50 787s.

Boeing booked 38 new orders in July. After eight cancellations, net new orders for the month stood at 30.

July's net orders comprised 18 737 MAX jets and 19 787 aircraft.

Most of July's orders had been previously announced during a subdued Farnborough Airshow. The largest order disclosed at Farnborough—a commitment for 100 737 MAX jets from Irish leasing company SMBC Aviation—was booked in June, initially recorded from an unidentified customer before its public announcement.

Boeing has accumulated more than 130 orders for its 737-10 variant through July. The 737-10 is the largest member of the MAX family.
