LUXEMBOURG — Stripe's stablecoin infrastructure firm Bridge has received a Crypto-Asset Service Provider authorization under the EU's Markets in Crypto-Assets framework and an Electronic Money Institution license from Luxembourg's financial regulator, the CSSF.
The dual approvals place Bridge among 42 MiCA-authorized electronic money token issuers operating inside the EU. The licenses allow Bridge to offer stablecoin and euro payment services to businesses and developers across the entire bloc under a single regulatory framework, eliminating country-by-country approvals.
MiCA standardizes crypto-asset rules across Europe, imposing requirements on issuers for capital reserves, custody and operational safeguards. The EMI license permits Bridge to issue electronic money, including stablecoins pegged to fiat currencies such as the euro.
The approvals give developers building on Bridge's infrastructure regulatory clarity for cross-border stablecoin payments and euro transfers throughout Europe.
