Jenson Button secured his first Formula 1 Grand Prix victory 20 years ago at the Hungarian Grand Prix, ending a 113-race winless run and changing the arc of his career.
Button was driving for Honda during the 2006 season when he finally broke through. The win did not come easy — 113 starts is a long time to wait, and the Hungarian result proved he belonged.
Three years later, Button won the Formula 1 World Drivers' Championship with the Brawn team in 2009. That title stands as the peak of a career that ran 18 seasons, from 2000 to 2017, and produced 15 Grand Prix victories.
