The XRP Ledger has established a direct connection with Axelar's interoperability network, enabling cross-chain transfers of XRP and other supported assets across more than 80 blockchains. The integration removes the need for separate bridge infrastructure, cutting complexity and attack surface for users and developers. This is a real expansion of XRPL's reach into the decentralized ecosystem—and it matters now.
Axelar's General Message Passing protocol drives the capability, letting smart contracts on the XRP Ledger call functions and transfer value to applications on any Axelar-connected chain. This is a full interoperability layer, not just an asset pipe. The network routes messages across different consensus mechanisms and virtual machines, handling integrity and security at the protocol level. That moves XRP well beyond its native network for settlement and liquidity across the multi-chain space.
XRP, currently trading at $1.06, now has direct exposure to DeFi ecosystems that were previously out of reach. Holders can deploy native XRP into lending protocols, liquidity pools and yield farms on chains like Avalanche, Polygon and Arbitrum—no asset wrapping required. That direct access drives fresh demand for XRP as a base asset, opens arbitrage flows between chains and expands the addressable market for XRP-denominated services.
For the XRPL, this positions it as a more competitive hub against other layer-one blockchains chasing cross-chain dominance. Developers building DeFi applications on the XRPL can now tap Axelar for composability across Web3 without engineering custom bridges for every connected chain.
