The Cleveland Sirens will begin WNBA play in 2028. Team president Allison Howard announced the official name and logo for the new franchise Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2026, at an event held at Rocket Arena.
The Sirens' primary logo features a mythical creature known for luring sailors with its voice — imagery that connects directly to the team's slogan, "Hear the Call."
The naming gives Clevelanders a specific identity to rally around more than two years before the franchise plays its first competitive game. The timeline allows the organization to build a coaching staff, scout players and prepare for upcoming WNBA Drafts.
The choice of Sirens gives the club a distinct identity within professional sports. Cleveland's addition reflects the WNBA's continued expansion into major U.S. markets.
