The Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC) has begun tokenizing DTC-custodied U.S. Treasury securities on the Canton Network, a permissioned blockchain environment built to handle real-world assets at institutional scale. Canton's rails are engineered to support up to $6 trillion in RWA volumes.

The integration allows DTCC to manage settlement and custody of Treasuries on-chain while maintaining regulatory oversight and compliance controls. On-chain Treasury TVL has expanded significantly in recent months, with protocols like Ondo Finance and BlackRock's BUIDL fund attracting stablecoin liquidity at yields near 4.2 percent.

Simultaneously, Lighter has launched LIT token trading with a fee structure matching Hyperliquid's cost-per-trade benchmark. Hyperliquid, a purpose-built Layer 1 for derivatives, has established the standard for low-friction on-chain perpetual futures execution through its BFT consensus mechanism and minimal taker and maker fees.

Lighter's fee parity to Hyperliquid signals a strategic play for active traders and institutional participants prioritizing execution efficiency. The protocol aims to compete on the same cost basis that has driven Hyperliquid's liquidity and volume.
