Strategy spent $208.2 million buying back its STRC preferred shares last week while acquiring 811 Bitcoin for $65.5 million. The company purchased Bitcoin at an average price of $80,846, per a Monday 8-K filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
The capital came from selling approximately 1.18 million MSTR common shares, generating $164 million in net proceeds. Of that amount, $65.5 million funded the Bitcoin buy, with the remaining $98.5 million added to Strategy's USD cash balance.
As of Sunday, Strategy held $132.7 million in USD cash and maintained a separate $4.79 billion reserve, underscoring its liquidity position.
The STRC preferred stock traded at $99.22 in pre-market Monday, up 0.1 percent. The price sits 0.8 percent below its $100 target. Strategy's policy blocks new STRC issuance below $100, closing off this funding avenue while the stock trades under target.
This activity mirrors Strategy's October push. Between Oct. 1 and Oct. 25, the company repurchased $664 million in STRC shares while acquiring only $72 million in Bitcoin—a consistent tilt toward preferred stock over digital assets.
Japan's Metaplanet, another Bitcoin treasury company, also reported share buybacks Monday. Metaplanet spent approximately 25.27 billion yen, or $160 million, to repurchase 96.45 million common shares between Oct. 14 and Saturday, representing roughly 7.1 percent of its total issued shares.
