AMPLITUDE (AMPL) climbed 23 percent in October as investors rotated out of capital-intensive AI infrastructure and into software stocks trading at reasonable valuations. The rally began Oct. 19, with the stock jumping 18 percent over five days as concerns mounted about AI capex spending—exemplified by Meta Platforms' first free cash flow loss since its IPO.

The timing mattered. As interest rates declined starting Oct. 20, Amplitude presented itself as a growth story without the heavy infrastructure costs burdening competitors. The company operates a SaaS analytics platform and has moved aggressively into AI-powered product development.

Analyst revisions accelerated the move. Bank of America raised its price target twice—from $14 to $16.50, then to $19—signaling conviction that the company's strategic initiatives warrant expansion multiples. BTIG upgraded simultaneously, moving its target from $13 to $17 on expectations for accelerating annual recurring revenue.

The earnings case is concrete. Amplitude is forecast to report 20.9 percent revenue growth in Q3, reaching $107 million, matching Q2's fastest pace in years. Adjusted EPS is projected to rise from $0.02 to $0.03. The company acquired Statsig from OpenAI earlier this year and investors will scrutinize integration progress and product momentum during the earnings call Thursday.

The setup favors upside surprise. Amplitude has delivered consistent top-line growth through the downturn and now sits at valuations that don't yet price in full adoption of its self-improving AI capabilities. A beat on revenue or ARR acceleration could re-rate the stock sharply higher.
