Traders are placing leveraged bets on Anthropic's anticipated IPO using synthetic contracts on Hyperliquid, a Layer 1 blockchain purpose-built for on-chain perpetual futures.
Trade.xyz's ANT contract dropped 20 percent within its first hour of trading on Hyperliquid. The sharp move illustrates the volatility risk in synthetic pre-IPO assets and the speed at which order flow can move on decentralized platforms.
Critically, ANT contracts carry no claim on actual Anthropic shares. They are pure speculation—allowing traders to express conviction on the company's eventual valuation without holding equity. The contract price can diverge significantly from Anthropic's IPO opening valuation, creating basis risk for position holders.
U.S. traders cannot access the ANT contract. Hyperliquid enforces geographic restrictions at the protocol level, blocking U.S. participants entirely.
Hyperliquid launched its native HYPE token via airdrop in November 2024 and operates its own BFT consensus layer. The platform has become a hub for synthetic asset launches because of its high-throughput architecture and permissionless listing model for derivatives.
