Salesforce agreed to acquire Rune Technologies, an AI logistics startup, for $375 million in cash and stock. Rune builds software that helps the U.S. military predict supply requirements and manage logistics in the field.
The deal reinforces Salesforce's push into defense technology through Missionforce, a unit launched last year that has grown 80 percent year-over-year. The business unit now has a 10-year, $5.6 billion contract with the U.S. Army—money that hinges on expanding beyond administrative back-office planning into direct battlefield operations. Rune's frontline logistics data closes that gap.
Rune, founded in 2024, raised $30 million from Andreessen Horowitz, Point72 Ventures, and IQT (the CIA-backed venture firm). The startup carried a $127 million valuation in its Series A round last year, led by Human Capital. Salesforce's $375 million offer represents a nearly threefold increase in valuation in roughly a year.
The acquisition fits a pattern of aggressive M&A at Salesforce this year. The company also agreed to buy Fin, an AI agent platform previously known as Intercom, for $3.6 billion, and Qualified, a revenue operations platform, for $1.2 billion. Salesforce also acquired Listen Labs after the startup rejected a $125 million Series C term sheet that had valued the company at $1.5 billion.
