A key copper gauge in China has flashed a warning. Mysteel Global reported the industrial metal is "sold out everywhere" across the nation, indicating severe market tightness driven by robust demand or constrained supply globally.

Freeport-McMoRan (FCX) stands as the primary beneficiary. The U.S. mining giant is a leading global copper producer, and rising copper prices directly boost revenue and profit margins. We maintain a strong buy rating on FCX with a $65 price target, representing 20 percent upside from current levels. The company's operational leverage makes it particularly sensitive to commodity price movements.

The supply crunch reflects sustained demand from global electrification trends, infrastructure spending, renewable energy transition and electric vehicle production. These secular tailwinds should support higher copper prices for years. Any further decline in London Metal Exchange inventories would confirm the severity of the shortage.

Other base metal miners with exposure to nickel or aluminum could see increased investor interest. Conversely, companies like General Electric (GE) and Eaton (ETN), which rely heavily on copper for electrical components, may face margin pressure as input costs rise.

Investors should monitor manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index data from China for demand signals. The LME's next inventory report will offer additional clarity on global copper supply and demand dynamics.
