Energea, an investment platform managing energy infrastructure portfolios, committed up to $20 million to finance electric vehicle charging stations across the U.S. expanding Portfolio 4 USA LP beyond its existing solar investments.
The platform's initial transaction is a $10 million credit facility to ChargedEV, a developer and owner of Tesla V4 Supercharger stations. The capital funds ChargedEV's Southeast expansion, with the first draw backed by two operational Georgia stations.
Mike Silvestrini, Co-Founder and Managing Partner at Energea, said the firm sees significant opportunities by broadening into energy infrastructure. Southeast population growth demands additional capital for EV charging capacity. "Growing demand for EV chargers creates a new asset class with recurring, energy-based revenue," Silvestrini said, describing the ChargedEV investment as a "perfect onramp" leveraging the world's most recognized EV charging platform.
The financing structure includes monthly payments and fixed interest rates, with each draw featuring a seven-year amortization period after an initial interest-only phase. Energea Portfolio 4 USA LP holds first-priority secured interest in the assets and retains an option to acquire minority equity stakes at a future date.
Energea is negotiating similar structures with a second charging developer and intends to pursue additional investments with other station operators nationwide.
Chris Sattler, Co-Founder and Managing Partner, said investors seek differentiated income sources beyond traditional bonds and corporate lending. "Investments secured by operating energy infrastructure" extend Energea's established model, he said.
Since launching in 2020, Energea has facilitated over $500 million in total investments across U.S. energy infrastructure, LATAM energy, African solar, and Brazilian community solar. The platform targets both financial returns and measurable environmental and social impact.
Portfolio 4 USA LP offers securities under Regulation A and, to accredited investors, under Rule 506(c).
