The Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation is moving U.S. Treasury securities held in custody by subsidiary DTC onto Canton Network, leveraging the platform's real-world asset infrastructure designed to support up to $6 trillion in tokenized assets.

Separately, Lighter has launched LIT trading on Hyperliquid, the Layer 1 blockchain running its own BFT consensus for on-chain perpetual futures. Lighter's fee structure mirrors Hyperliquid's existing perp markets.

The DTCC move bridges traditional financial custody with blockchain settlement. Tokenizing DTC-custodied Treasuries could reduce settlement friction and expand on-chain access to government debt instruments at scale.

Lighter's integration expands Hyperliquid's asset menu beyond perpetuals, adding another liquidity venue for traders within the ecosystem. Hyperliquid's native token HYPE launched via airdrop in November 2024.
