AUSTIN — MicroStrategy founder Michael Saylor signaled another Bitcoin purchase Sunday, Oct. 18, posting "We found room for more orange" on X alongside an updated chart of the company's holdings. The message follows his customary Sunday ritual of hinting at acquisitions before Monday announcements.
MicroStrategy holds 848,250 BTC acquired at an average price of $75,444 per coin, valued at approximately $69.45 billion as of Sunday. While no new purchase has been confirmed, the pattern often precedes an acquisition announcement.
The post came after Saylor's appearance at ParaFi Investor Day 2026, where he detailed how bank lending, tokenized securities and Bitcoin-backed credit could support a $100 trillion financial system. Speaking alongside ParaFi Capital partner Jeff Park, Saylor argued that Bitcoin's largest financial transformation "has barely begun" despite its 17-year existence.
Saylor emphasized Bitcoin's fixed supply as a hedge against AI-driven production of competing assets. "If you're an investor, you want to buy something a robot can't make," he said, arguing that artificial intelligence will make conventional businesses increasingly vulnerable while strengthening the case for scarce assets.
Bank adoption represents his key catalyst. Saylor expects custody services to establish lending networks over the next 12 to 24 months as institutions extend credit against Bitcoin holdings. He quantified the impact: "Every $10 billion of credit is one year supply," meaning a $100 billion credit expansion on a $1 trillion asset class would be "enormously bullish."
MicroStrategy's model operates as a self-reinforcing cycle: the company raises capital, purchases Bitcoin, then uses appreciating reserves to support additional financing and further accumulation. The company uses 12 percent preferred stock as part of its capital structure. This continuous buying, paired with expanding credit mechanisms, positions Bitcoin as the foundation for a new credit economy.
