Interactive Brokers introduced ether staking services Tuesday, tapping into a growing institutional push to capture yield on digital assets. Powered by Zerohash, the offering lets eligible clients stake ETH directly through IBKR's Client Portal and manage positions in real time.
Staking rewards automatically compound back into staked positions. The move mirrors Interactive Brokers' Stock Yield Enhancement Program, extending the wealth-accumulation playbook to crypto holdings across its $964.7 billion in client equity.
"We want clients to earn more from the assets they hold," CEO Milan Galik said in a statement.
The launch marks IBKR's latest expansion into crypto infrastructure since entering digital assets in 2021 through a Paxos partnership. Early offerings included bitcoin, ether, litecoin and bitcoin cash trading. The firm extended services to Hong Kong in 2023 and the European Economic Area in 2026.
Staking-as-a-service has become a flashpoint for major financial players. Zerohash unveiled its StaaS offering to banks and brokerages in June 2026. Bank of New York Mellon partnered with Galaxy Digital for staking services in August. Bitgo Bank Trust rolled out Lido staking to U.S. clients last week, following earlier launches in Europe and Asia.
