Patricia Krenwinkel, one of Charles Manson's most notorious followers, has been recommended for parole for the third time in four years. The 78-year-old was convicted in the 1969 killing spree that left seven dead, including pregnant actress Sharon Tate.
Krenwinkel has served more than 55 years. California Gov. Gavin Newsom, who has the power to override parole board decisions in violent crime cases, rejected her twice before, citing concerns that she remains dangerous.
The 1969 murders occurred at two Los Angeles locations. The victims were Tate, Abigail Folger, Wojciech Frykowski, Steven Parent, Jay Sebring, Leno LaBianca and Rosemary LaBianca.
Newsom's office has not announced a timeline for its review.
