Changpeng Zhao, founder of cryptocurrency exchange Binance, issued a warning on X today, October 9, 2026, regarding a supply chain attack targeting Ledger hardware wallets. Zhao stated, " Beware if you use a Ledger hardware wallet, especially if you bought one recently. Based on information so far, it seems to be localized to a supply chain attack with one vendor. A small number of people probably bought fake (or tampered) Ledgers. Ledger is one of the most secure and oldest hardware wallets in the industry. Stood the test of time. But these things happen. I expect and know all BNB ecosystem players (and all industry) to help trace and recover the funds."

The warning comes as the digital asset market shows signs of resilience, with Bitcoin trading at $82,892, up 0.5% in the last 24 hours. Ether is priced at $2,486, down 1.8% over the same period. Recent Gokhshtein Media coverage noted Bitcoin clearing $82,500 amidst a resuming "Uptober" narrative and significant on-chain activity.

Zhao's statement implies a need for vigilance among hardware wallet users, particularly those who have made recent purchases. His call for industry players to assist in tracing and recovering funds suggests a potential coordinated effort to address the breach. The focus will be on further details emerging from Ledger or affected users regarding the scope and impact of the reported supply chain compromise.
