Jaguar will begin taking orders for the Type 01 electric grand tourer in early 2027, with the base variant priced at $130,500 and deliveries starting in the second half of the year.
The car marks Jaguar's most aggressive push into high-end battery electrics. It pairs a three-motor setup—one front, two rear—that produces 1,016 horsepower and 1,365 newton-meters of torque. The Type 01 sprints from zero to 62 mph in 3.2 seconds.
The 118-kilowatt-hour battery targets 400 miles of range per charge. A 350-kilowatt DC charger recovers 200 miles in 13 minutes, addressing the range-anxiety objection that has plagued EV adoption among affluent buyers accustomed to sub-five-minute refueling.
Design carries forward much of the controversial Type 00 concept—low stance, extended side profile, 23-inch wheels—now executed as a four-door sedan rather than a two-seater. The cabin pairs leather and brass with a 24-inch OLED instrument display and two additional 7-inch screens mounted in the central console for climate and audio control.
One unusual choice: no rear window. A camera feed from a rear-facing display mounted above the panoramic soundbar replaces traditional glass, a solution that saves weight and maintains the design language but relies on electronics for visibility.
Jaguar has designated the U.S. as its primary market for the Type 01, signaling where it expects to find buyers capable of absorbing the premium pricing required to compete against Tesla's Model S Plaid and potential entrants from traditional luxury makers shifting to electric drivetrains.
