Pharmaceutical giant Bristol Myers Squibb will invest $2.3 billion to construct a new manufacturing facility in northeast Houston. The project, located at Generation Park, spans 600,000 square feet and is expected to create nearly 500 jobs in the region.

Construction begins in 2027, with operations projected to start in 2030. The company plans a modular campus capable of scaling to meet future demand.

Bristol Myers Squibb will manufacture small molecules, biologics, and antibody-drug conjugates at the site, according to company announcements.

"This investment contributes to our $40 billion commitment to the United States and supports our goal to build domestic manufacturing capabilities for future scientific breakthroughs and next-generation medicines," Bristol Myers Squibb Board Chair and CEO Christopher Boerner said.

Boerner cited Houston and Texas for offering talent, infrastructure, and partnerships to support the project. The Greater Houston Partnership, an economic development organization, worked with regional partners to attract the New Jersey-based company.

The announcement marks a major win for the region's push to become a life sciences hub. Last year, Eli Lilly announced a separate $6.5 billion pharmaceutical facility also planned for Generation Park. The two projects represent years of regional efforts to develop workforce, infrastructure, and business climate for large-scale biomanufacturing investment.

McCord Development, the developer of Generation Park, played a central role in preparing the site. The development company highlighted the park's features—including parks, resilient infrastructure, higher education workforce development—as key to attracting the industry.
