Japanese listed company Metaplanet announced a major revision to its capital allocation policy on Oct. 5, formalizing an aggressive Bitcoin-centric treasury strategy. The updated policy targets 85 to 90 percent of total assets held in Bitcoin.
The company also established a strategic investment allocation comprising 10 to 15 percent of total assets, focused on financial platform acquisitions, yield-generating assets and investment capital for asset management businesses.
Metaplanet will fund the strategic component through non-dilutive methods—BitBonds, general borrowings, Bitcoin-collateralized credit financing and perpetual preferred shares. Credit financing used specifically to acquire and hold Bitcoin will remain below 10 percent of its Bitcoin Net Asset Value.
The company introduced a net interest income strategy alongside the revised policy. It will invest financing proceeds into assets that generate yields exceeding its cost of capital, capturing net interest margin income.
Metaplanet reported a net purchase of 1,000 BTC during the third quarter, bringing total holdings to 44,000 BTC as of Sept. 30. Bitcoin currently trades at $86,099.
This approach solidifies Metaplanet's position among publicly traded companies with substantial Bitcoin treasuries—accumulating the digital asset while generating balance sheet income.
