England midfielder Alex Scott has withdrawn from the national squad due to a quadriceps injury and returned to Bournemouth for assessment. Scott, 23, could face a layoff of up to two months.
The injury was sustained before England's 7-0 victory against Croatia on Saturday. Scott played 70 minutes against Croatia despite the discomfort.
Scott has recorded one goal, 11 chances created, nine tackles, and eight interceptions across five Premier League appearances this season. Bournemouth rejected bids exceeding £60 million from Chelsea for the midfielder.
In Scott's absence, Lewis Cook is expected to step into a starting role in Bournemouth's midfield.
Scott earned his first senior England appearance as a substitute in a 2-0 win over Czechia and received praise from head coach Thomas Tuchel after his first England start against Croatia. He received his first call-up in November 2025 for matches against Serbia and Albania, though he did not play.
