David Gokhshtein, founder of Gokhshtein Media and host of The Breakdown, expressed increased confidence in Bitcoin's potential to reach $100,000 this year. In a post on X on Friday, October 2, 2026, Gokhshtein elaborated on his reasoning, stating: "I’m more confident Bitcoin can reach $100K this year, and that view has little to do with today’s price action. The bigger argument is that Bitcoin is increasingly being treated like gold: a scarce, non-sovereign asset that investors can turn to when they lose confidence in governments, currencies, or financial markets. As more people and institutions view Bitcoin as a store of value and a hedge against uncertainty, even a modest shift of capital from gold and other traditional safe havens could create significant demand. That growing resemblance to gold is why I’m bullish."
Bitcoin is currently trading at $85,134, showing a 1.1% gain over the past 24 hours. The digital asset has recently garnered significant market activity, with Bitcoin open interest jumping $2.3 billion and funding rates hitting 10 percent. Michaël van de Poppe previously suggested that stable Federal Reserve rates would be bullish for Bitcoin. Additionally, Tether recently integrated its USDT stablecoin onto the Bitcoin network via Utexo's RGB Protocol.
Gokhshtein's view implies that Bitcoin's increasing perception as a store of value, similar to gold, is a primary driver for its potential price appreciation. He suggests that a modest reallocation of capital from gold and other traditional safe havens could generate substantial demand for Bitcoin. This perspective highlights that investor confidence in governmental and currency stability will be a key factor in Bitcoin's future performance.
